Film Analysis 3

"Stille nacht 1: dramolet Quay brothers"

The film is a surreal film made by the Quay brothers its length is under 2 minutes, which is obviously going to be shorter than our film, but the films content is very closely linked to our style films. The beginning of the short film keyhole fades are used when cutting shots. This type of editing technique is a great way to highlight a certain part within the shot/scene. As in meshes of the afternoon pace is played with mixing slow shots and increasing the pace. This would create great contrasting shots and would show the audience surreal elements of the story. The music used is again simple, but old fashioned in style, the same style of music as many silent films. When creating our short film we want to use a variety of editing techniques such as the key hole fade, this is a great way to highlight a certain element in the scene. The use of pace is interesting and we would like to incorporate in to a scene when the girl gets hit, as this will create a great effect and highlight the girls face and her facial expressions.
