Poster Design 1 - Imagery

I have been given the task of designing the Poster and I have taken lots of inspiration from various existing posters from many different genres...

This first idea was inspired by the poster of 'Rescue Dawn' as I think it is really interesting and has a different approach to displaying the imagery to any other posters I have seen before. I also like how the colours are minimal but have an equal amount of impact. The hazy blurring gives it a mysterious, dramatic and moody feel which I think would work really well with our surrealist theme.

First, I opened an image of petals in photoshop and cut around all three individual petals.

I also created the background by using the paintbrush to create a hazy 'spotlight', similar to the effect on 'Rescue Dawn'. I chose a brush that would create this particular effect and set a large setting to cover more space at once.

I then layered them together and arranged them to look as if they had fallen onto the circle and were begining to fall of. This related greatly to a prominent element
in our short film.

I used the brush again to create depth on each pettle by selecting it and creating 'shaddows' away from the centre point. I think this looks really effective and dramatic and sets the right kind of scene for the film.
